Ho Hieu&apos s Story: Pig Farming Success
Male, 44 years old, married

Loans: 3 loan ($550 USD)
Occupation: Rice Farmer and Pig Breeder
For nearly twenty years, Ho has been raising pigs to supplement the income he earns from his primary occupation as a rice farmer. During this time, he has enjoyed great success in his pig breeding efforts - but only recently was Ho able to take his business to the next level. Ho began his relationship with FESR in 2003, using the money from his first loan to reconstruct his pig holding. Since then, Ho has successfully completed FESR&apos s three-loan cycle, which has enabled him to purchase higher quality feed and vaccinations for a greater number of pigs. In just four years time, Ho has doubled the size of his pig stock while expanding his husbandry practices to include water buffalo and cattle. The additional revenue generated from increased pig sales also enabled Ho to buy a tractor in 2005, which he now uses to plow his fields as well as his neighbors'. Ho recently received the ThuaThien-Hue Farmers Association Good Farmer in Production and Trading award for his agricultural success. Thanks to the three loans Ho took out from FESR, he found the freedom to expand his husbandry business while also effectively diversifying his sources of income.
